• Brands policy

At Hooghoudt, we concentrate on flavour and quality. This means that our products give you the finest that nature can offer. Each and every one of our products is top class. Whether it’s our famous Jonge Dubbele Graanjenever, or the smoothest vodka in the world, or our distinctive Beerenburg, the company’s philosophy can be summed up as craftsmanship, the desire to innovate and a feeling for customer demand. This passion is expressed in our own brands Hooghoudt, Royalty Hooghoudt and elPicu, as well as in our various brand names and private labels. As Purveyor to H.M. The Queen, we are of the opinion that only the very best that the Netherlands has to offer is good enough: outstanding performance, day in day out.

Hooghoudt

Our Heritage

Hooghoudt first saw the light of day in September 1888. The story of this illustrious family business began in a cellar on Oosterstraat, only a very short distance from the Martinitoren. The company first concentrated on distilling and preparing liqueurs, and changed over to the famous Jonge Dubbele Graanjenever and other spirituous liquors later on. In 1985, Hooghoudt had grown too big for its historic premises in Groningen city centre, and moved into the ultra-modern distillery at its present location. This move demonstrates that the company is looking to the future as well as maintaining its wealth of historic tradition.

Our heritage

Master craftsmanship in distilling

Of course, this is one of our best-kept secrets which we’ve cherished for more than a century: the preparation methods for Hooghoudt’s Jonge Dubbele Graanjenever, Beerenburg, Lemon Gin, Vieux and all our other alcoholic creations. This is the master craftsmanship passed on from father to son in the Hooghoudt family from Groningen: a wonderful gift that has lasted for many generations. Our master distiller jealously guards the authentic recipes and supervises the correct preparation of all our spirits. Thanks to our advanced bottling unit, Hooghoudt can change gear quickly and efficiently with respect to the volume required. Allowing herbs and fruit to infuse for a long time to obtain the best flavour, using the purest water and the finest grain spirit, and applying the very latest techniques have made Hooghoudt a trendsetter: masters of distilling, bottling and shrewd logistics.
